Setting:

The world of Detective Conan is set up in modern day Tokyo, it expands to other prefectures but it's main two are the fictional areas: Beika District, and Haido City in which no small number of crimes often take place. It's a long running mystery series in which the main character, a famous high school detective gets himself into a bit of trouble when he gets caught eavesdropping and force fed an experimental poison (later to be revealed as: APTX4869) that reverts him back to the size of a small seven year old. Being a massive fan of the books by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, he adopts the alias Edogawa Conan and moves in with a hopeless detective name Kogoro Mouri. With the help of a few gadgets made by a family friend Agasa Conan manages to make Kogoro into a famous detective known as 'The Sleeping Kogoro'.

While Conan was originally under the impression that the men who shrank him are two ordinary thugs but quickly learns this is not the case as they're part of a large underground organization. An organization that would not hesitate to kill him should they learn he's still alive. Not too long after he shrinks he comes across another person in his exact same situation using the alias Ai Haibara and concealing her real identity as Shiho Miyano or, as she's known in the organization, Sherry. Haibara is the inventor of the drug that was force fed to him but fled the organization when they refused to tell her why her sister died.

She hunts down the little detective and, after a shaky start, he promises to protect her from the organization and she starts work on a cure for both their conditions. I firmly believe that at this point, Conan had not yet realized to depth the of the danger he'd been just barely keeping his head above. He gets a brief glimpse, however, when a well known computer programmer and CGI expert, Suguru Itakura leaves behind a diary stating that some strange people (the Organization) had approached him about creating a specific kind of program. The last entry in the diary is rather alarming as is states he's given up the project for the sake of humanity. (it is still unknown what that project was.)

He's found that the organization is far more wide spread, and far more dangerous than he could have ever anticipated in the first few weeks of his life as Conan. Anything that gets in their way gets burned, Anything associated with what gets in their way gets burned and they never leave evidence. Being a cannibalistic organization, anyone that leaves evidence got get arrested is killed. If you don't have any worth or use in the organization it's the end of the line. They've also been responsible for multiple bombing, assassinations, and what really unnerved Conan, set a fire to a theater, released a gas in two area with separate effects (one irritated the eyes and throat, and the other mimicked the symptoms of food poisoning) all simultaneously to storm a hospital and get their members in without suspicion. It is a VERY dangerous organization and he has every right to be paranoid-with something that wide spread you can never know who's one of their agents and who's not.

There's only a handful of people that know the truth about the young detective's identity has he has been warned by Haibara again and again the less people that know the safer they are.

-A rival high school Detective, Heiji Hattori
-Haibara Ai
-His family friend, Agasa
-His mom and dad, Yukiko and Yuusaku Kudou
-An internationally wanted thief, Kaitou Kid
-One of the black organization member's, Vermouth (Chris Vineyard/Sharon Vineyard, who also happens to be a friend of Shinichi's mother.)

Personality:

Shinichi is a detective that never takes a break. Even if he's not on a case he frequently finds himself curious about the people he comes in contact with. He is always using his detective skills to figure out someone's profession or where they were five minutes before he met them. When solving a case he focuses on one thing-The Truth. He doesn't generally care about the people involved in the case as long as he figures out what happened, why it happened and how to prove it happened or prove who did it so that he can bring that one truth to light.

Murder and the most bizarre cases are his favorite kinds as he generally has little to no interest in thieves and finds adultery cases to be stupid and a waste of his time. He also isn't fond of kidnapping but he will take a case like it if it's brought to him. When solving cases, most people make the assumption that Shinichi is out for justice. That is not entirely accurate as he is mainly out for fun. He is a teenager after all, and he looks at his cases like a puzzle- cat and mouse. He doesn't usually give a damn about the victims of the murderers which is obvious since he's not affected by most crime scenes. He's seen bodies hacked to pieces and only casually mentioned this to his best friend, telling her he doesn't let the job effect him. He is out for justice in some senses to the word, but mostly he's out to solve the really complex puzzles which is why he likes the really complex cases that baffle the police. Especially locked-rooms murders.

Being the son of a retired actress he has a love for theatrics and loves to play out the drama of a situation and make a big show of his deductions. He loves to start from the beginning and go over every aspect of the case to keep his audience guessing until he finally reveals the culprit. He intentionally leaves out the most crucial detail of his accusations just to bait the culprit into demanding he show the proof. Which, he has no trouble doing.

He may be a capable detective and share almost all the traits of a classic detective but he has his faults such as his impatience and the biggest one being his recklessness. Even if it's all a game to him there is one aspect for the puzzle that he takes very seriously and that is a life. If he thinks he can stop a murder he will try, even if it puts him in danger. He has been known to run off without warning and usually right into danger. Nothing he can’t handle however, as long as he ‘s got his trusty kick shoes and belt, or even the wrist watch can get him out of a bind.

Shinichi is what you would call a mystery freak. This doesn’t change between when he’s Shinichi and when he’s Conan. He has read the series Sherlock Holmes more times then he can probably count. He’s been to a Holmes convention, had to take thousand question test and most likely, got a perfect score on it. The Kudo library is filled from floor to ceiling with mystery books and it’s an easy bet to say he’s read every last one of them.

Before shrinking, Shinichi was a very arrogant, spoiled rich boy. He was under the belief he’s the best thing since sliced bread and his attitude towards others made this very apparent. As Shinichi, he could move around crime scenes freely and didn't need any help while conducting an investigation. Now that he's stuck as the grade-schooler Conan Edogawa that has changed drastically. He has to watch how he words things and basically lead the adults to the right answers. It can be very annoying but through it he's learned a few social skills and also how to be a manipulative little brat if he makes just the right expressions.

It’s less noticeable as Shinichi, but Conan seems to have problems tolerating people who are less then intelligent. It’s seen most often when he’s talking to the Detective Boys ( a group of kids that have adopted Conan as their friend), or if someone is flat out refusing to use their brain.

While Mysteries usually have his undivided attention there is a part of him that is still a normal teenager; Ran. Ran Mouri is Shinichi’s childhood friend and love interest. He’s so hung up over her that his love for her truly deserves it’s own part in his personality. He admires Ran’s strength and compassion above all other things about her and truly sees her as the most important person in the world. He would do anything for her. Even as Conan, his love for her hasn’t changed, even though they live together. He hates having to lie about his identity to her but he’d rather she stayed safe. If Ran ends up in danger Conan gets reckless and all the intelligence he holds tends to go down the drain.

Being from a world very grounded in science Conan will react about the way he'd be expected to the idea of being trapped on a giant turtle and stuck between life and death: Not At All Well. He'll refuse to believe it at first, say it's stupid and run off to investigate like a true detective and after he's thoroughly exhausted himself running all over the place a little bit of panic will set in he'll wonder if this means the organization's gotten to him at last. But he will line face forever at the giant turtle part because, come on! That's just ridiculous.

Appearance: Detective Brat.

Abilities:

Shinichi is purely human and, aside from shrinking hasn't even had a brush with the supernatural- he refuses to believe it exists. However, he does have one ability and that's his intelligence. The kid is like a sponge and is always willing to learn new things as he takes a very different stance than Sherlock Holmes when it comes to keeping up with certain subjects. Holmes believes that he only needs to learn about subjects that would be useful to him as a detective while Shinichi is under the impression that there is no telling what might be relevant in a case and makes it a point to soak up all the knowledge he can. He is also quite gifted at soccer.

Suite:

Metal Sector. He's a detective and he'll go crazy without cases to solve, even if they are mundane. You had him at 'unorganized crime' Plus, he's from Tokyo which is a big city with some very unique architecture of its own so though it will only be a very small comfort, it will most definitely be a comfort nonetheless. I would like to request that he be given a guardian if at all possible, he is physically seven and he frequently forgets that he is not nearly as durable as he used to be and honestly does need someone to look after him.

In-Character Samples:
Third Person:

The small detective sat back in the carriage and pressed his fingers together, studying the being directly in front of him as ran over a series of connected thoughts in his head about the place. He tried hard not to show it but inside his patience was wearing thin as every attempt he'd made to get answers was brushed aside and ignored. He was hoping that if he could escape further into his own mind it might help to cool his temper. He hadn't lost it yet but one more comment about "the emperor's business" and he just might snap. There was no real reason for his anger, he's reasonably confused and disoriented which makes it inherently easy for the smallest of things to dig under his skin.

He was smarter than the person in front of him, of that he's sure. He was generally the smartest person in a room so it should have been the easiest thing in the world to think up an indirect question to draw answers off of. But he couldn't-it was probably just the result of being so very disoriented but it felt annoyingly like something akin to heavy narcotics were clouding his thoughts. He closed his eyes and pressed his steepled fingers against his mouth, reminding himself to stay calm and to reassess the situation before he did something foolish.

He opened his eyes to slowly scan over the person he was sharing his ride with, filing away what little information he could infer from their appearance alone, reminding himself to stick to the facts. Maybe he could learn more if he was able to explore the area around him on more personal level. His temper finally settled back down and his narrowed blue eyes widened slightly as he took the facade of a curious child right back up.

"Gee, we've been in this carriage for a really long time. I'm hungry. Can we stop and get something to eat maybe?"

Network:

[ Upon getting absolutely no information from his escort, the small boy immediately tears apart the new living space in search of clues or anything that might have better information than what he's been given. He supposed what he's been told is supposed to satisfy most people but they should really take into consideration that a detective with a starving curiosity and thirst for the truth would not take kindly to their questions being brushed off. After he's done flipping cushions up, moving chairs around and running his hands long the walls he gets to the computer, turning it on and logging into the network-network meant people and maybe SOMONE would have some decent answers. ]

Ah! Hello! I'm new I guess, but the person I rode with was mean and wouldn't tell me anything, so I was wondering if maybe someone else wouldn't mind answering some of my questions? [ Just to ensure he got at least a few people to respond, be it concerned adults or people with actual information, he offers the feed his best puppy-dog face, complete with the large eyes and pouty lip. ]

And don't try to convince me we're on a giant turtle. That's dumb.
